I remember receiving my first issue of EP Lab Digest.  The first issue was mailed to all allied professionals and representatives who was involved in the world of Electrophysiology.  I always enjoyed reading the articles and learning what was happening in EP.  I wrote an article on my business and I feel so honored to have it published in EP Lab Digest.  It's like a designer having their clothes featured in Vogue.  Yes, I truly mean it.  Here is a link and I hope you enjoy it.http://eplabdigest.com/articles/My-Journey-EP?goback=%2Egde_2210134_news_494708499

I don't know about you, but when I shop online I usually fixate on the price.  However, as I have become a more educated and seasoned online shopper, I realized that price was not always the deciding factor as to where I would purchase my item.  I've learned it's extremely important to check the return and exchange policy as well as shipping rates.

As we all know, there are many scrub websites for medical professionals to purchase their scrubs.  Many carry mass marketed scrub manufactures that can be found on almost every scrub website.  These scrubs are sold for a slightly lower price than Skyline Scrubs however, I noticed the return and exchange policy is not nearly as liberal.  Many subtract the return shipping cost as well as charge a restocking fee.  When you factor in those costs, it's not much of a savings if you have to return or exchange your merchandise.  At Skyline Scrubs we feel it's important to be able to return and exchange at no charge, when shopping online you need an insurance policy since you are not able to try on the merchandise before hand.

We are happy to return or make exchanges within 30 days of purchasing.  We pay for return shipping and ship the new size back to you at no cost.  Our rates are flat fees no matter where you live in the country.  We also offer the highest quality fabrics and designer scrubs that are unique and exclusive to our website.

When starting a business you encounter a lot of skepticism, non believers if you will.  Some are closet non believers (usually friends or people who are just too nice to offend you) and some are "in your face" "I think your idea sucks non believers.  I prefer the latter, I like it when people tell what they really think.

Recently, I was at the office for a company I consult for, in the break room was one of their technicians who wears the traditional OR green scrubs every day.  I was telling him about Skyline Scrubs and how I hope to fill a niche market for medical professionals who want something nicer.  I could tell by the look on his face he thought I'd lost my mind.  "A lot of nurses like Cherokee or Dickies because their functional and cheap" was one of his comments.  That's fine because I knew that many scrub wearers fall in the masses and are happy with ordinary looking scrubs.  I told him about my upcoming Men's line and he said that he was happy with the traditional greens he's grown accustomed to wearing.

About a month later when I received my mens sample, I showed them to him and his face lit up when he saw how nice they were. He tried on the pants (top was too small for him) and he was elated with how great they felt and how much nicer he looked compared to the traditional green scrubs he was wearing.  I could tell it was authentic enthusiasm by the smile on his face.

So I made a believer out of a skeptic which always makes me happy.  I won't change everyone but one here and there is a very good feeling.

Department Stores See Their Future as Exclusivity - NYTimes.com

This New York Times article articulates the trend of exclusivity in more and more department stores.  Why is this becoming the future of shopping?  Because women are tired of seeing the same clothes (including scrubs) everywhere.  Department stores are understanding this boredom and are contracting with clothing lines to offer exclusive items available only at their particular store.  For example, I have an awesome Diane Von Furstenburg dress which was only available at Barneys.  DVF is available everywhere, but Barneys understood  that offering exclusive DVF items sets them apart from the other department stores.  Mass production certainly provides availability and drives down production costs, but it certainly doesn't make you feel "cool" or "special" when you see it everywhere.

The boredom and monotony of clothes was inspiration to create something unique and a more exclusive in the medical scrub market.  While there are many scrubs available, most are mass produced and available at just about any scrub uniform store or e commerce site.  I like to think that our scrubs offer a boutique sensibility but also very practical.  Skyline scrubs are only available at www.skylinescrubs.com to insure that you receive a quality product that is a little more "special."  That's a good thing.

Yes, I'm back.  It's been way too long since my last posting.  It was the start of the new year and the next thing I know Valentine's Day was over.  It's been a a very crazed two months, the feedback on the scrubs has been phenomenal and now we're working on the men's line.

My dog Milo and I have started volunteering at Mt. Sinai hospital here in New York City.  Today we saw a lovely young girl who has been in the hospital for quite some time.  She lit up when she saw Milo and a huge smile returned to her face.  It's amazing how this sweet little dog has such healing powers for patients as well as myself.  In addition, I started a new job as Director of Sales for a small neurological monitoring company in New York.  Yes, the employees will be wearing Skyline Scrubs.

I look forward to the rest of 2011.  I have a feeling it's going to be a great year and I have big plans!

As I sit here and look back on 2010 it was quite a year for me.  What started out as a "not so great" year, ended up being a year full of major accomplishments.  Maybe not major in the Groupon or Ipad league, but major to me.

1.  Launching my new business Skyline Scrubs.

2.  Landing my first consulting job which has been awesome.

3.  Volunteering and finally getting Milo certified as a therapy dog.  Healing and helping people has been so rewarding.

4.  Starting a blog.

5.  Exploring areas outside of New York City.

6.  Twitter

7.  Going to my first runway show at Lincoln Center to see my favorite designer of all time.

8.  No shopping outside of incidentals (I think I might have bought a LuLu Lemon work out outfit).

9.  Lunch with a favorite author.

10.  Learning a whole new industry I knew nothing about.

As far as 2011, I have no resolutions.  I do know that I will continue to create and do things I never made the time for or had the courage to accomplish.  Excuses are barriers and I will continue to break them as I move forward into 2011.  That I know for sure.

Happy New Year Everyone!

So why plaid?  Because it's chic, elegant and timeless.  It's beautiful and masculine at the the same time.

Vogue magazine calls plaid one of the hottest trends this coming year.  So why not start out the new year in style.  Besides plaid is happy and it's good to be happy!
